Tania Stevenson to speak at Notts Pride 23
Notts Pride 23 is proud to highlight some of the amazing speakers we will have on our Notts Pride Stage
Tania Stevenson was elected as Derbyshire’s first ever trans Councillor for the village of Borrowash in May this year, Tania’s relentless and successful political campaign to fly the Pride flag locally made national news, and has been a beacon of hope and highlighted best practice for communities up and down the land.
A vocal advocate for the trans community here in Nottingham for more than a decade, Tania has also spoken regularly on national topics such as trans self-ID, banning conversion therapy, equality, diversity & inclusion in local government and improving NHS care for trans patients.
We asked Tania what pride means to her:
“Pride, to me, means standing tall and finding beauty and strength in the diversity of human experience, and honouring the contributions and struggles of those who have come before me. It means empowering marginalised communities, and amplifying voices that are often silenced.
But most of all, Pride is not just a feeling or a moment, but a way of life. It is a constant commitment to self-love, social justice, and community building. And I am proud to be a part of a movement that is dedicated to making the world a better, more inclusive place for all.”
Tania has been one of our biggest supporters over the years and we are glad to have her back this year on our Notts Pride Stage.
