Supporter spotlight: “Pride is one of the biggest days locally and in terms of the sheer numbers of people”

Notts Pride organisers have announced a strong show of support for the march this year from local businesses including The Multiplayer Group and Broadway Cinema.

Leigh Ellis, chairperson at Notts Pride, said: “Notts Pride is one of the largest free-to-attend LGBTQ+ festivals in the East Midlands and the reason we can keep it free for everyone to enjoy is because of the support we receive from local businesses and organisations.”

Local businesses get involved each year by sponsoring the event or registering to march, and many of them also put on their own events and activities.

Stewart Terry, director of marketing and communications at Broadway Cinema, said: “It’s important for businesses to support pride, it’s one of the biggest days locally and in terms of the sheer numbers of people, it’s absolutely huge.”

Around 11,000 locals lined the streets last year to march in solidarity with Nottingham’s LGBTQ+ community and planning is underway for this year’s event with thousands expected to attend the march on 26 July in Sneinton.
