First acts revealed for Nottinghamshire Pride 2024

Organisers of Nottinghamshire Pride 2024 have revealed the first wave of acts who will be taking to the iconic Pride main stage at its new home in Sneinton this year.

On Saturday 27th July, the streets of Nottingham will be a wash of colour and excitement in celebration of Nottingham’s LGBTQ+ community. And, organisers are promising an eclectic roster of performers from within the LGBTQ+ community who will be on hand to provide the perfect soundtrack to the festivities.

Headlining the event will be Drag Race UK star Tia Kofi, with this year’s main stage hosts set to be popular drag acts Marilyn Sane, Nana Arthole and Liv. Joining the glittering line-up will be Dolly Parton impersonator, Kelly O’Brien; singer-songwriter Rob Green; musician Su, I Think; Nottingham singer Ashly song and the Singing Proud Choir.

Other performers looking to dazzle during the day’s celebrations will be Afrofuturist Drag King, Manly Mannington; midlands drag artist Kenya Knott; drag performer Una Versa, and the Winner of the Nottingham Drag Pageant 2024 who is set to be crowned on Friday 21st June at the Nottingham Arts Theatre. Meanwhile Nadia Whittome, Labour MP for Nottingham East, and Tania Stevenson, Councillor for the village of Borrowash, will also be taking to the stage to share their thoughts during two engaging speeches.

Craig Martin, co-chair of Nottinghamshire Pride said: “Each year, we’re always really passionate about celebrating top talent from across the Midlands’ LGBTQ+ community, and this year we’ve pulled out all the stops with an exciting bill of 30 acts who are sure to have everyone on their feet.

“Nottinghamshire Pride is always a day for reflection and celebration, and together with our march, our main stage has become an integral part of the day. This year, we’re excited to host the stage at its brand new Sneinton location, which has helped make the event even more accessible for all, while giving us the chance to celebrate the historic significance of Sneinton in the city’s LGBTQ+ history.”

In addition to live music performances on the stage, Sneinton avenues will also be taken over by an eclectic array of market stalls. And, for families looking to join in the festivities, there’ll also be a range of family friendly activities to enjoy including circus performances, a family-friendly DJ, and a talk from LGBTQ+ children’s author Troy Jenkinson.

Meanwhile, in Hockley – Nottinghamshire Pride’s second location during the day – Pride attendees will be treated to DJs and performances at Broadway’s mezzanine bar balcony where they’ll be able to dance the day away on Broad Street’s iconic rainbow road.

Leigh Ellis, co-chair of Nottinghamshire Pride added: “We’re always striving to make Nottinghamshire Pride as accessible as possible for all, and this year in addition to moving to our new Sneinton location, we’ve also added even more options for how people choose to celebrate the day.

“Whether you’d like to spend the day dancing to some fantastic live music with friends, spend the event reflecting on the significance of the day, or spend the day enjoying some of the events on offer with your family, we’ll have something for everyone. It’s set to be a fantastic day.”

Now in its 27th year, Nottinghamshire Pride has always been free to attend for all, and is a solely non-profit event, relying on sponsors as well as volunteers who give up their time each year to support by collecting donations, offering stewardship, general event support and more.

2024’s sponsors and supporters so far include Sladen Estates, MPG, E.ON, Boots, East Midlands Airport, Rolls Royce, Nottingham Building Society, Acoustikle, Capital One and Cartwright Communications.
